Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao Del Sur – In a proactive effort to support the campaign against loose firearms and criminality, Barangay Chairman Hon. Zaiton Utto Dimaukom officially surrendered a homemade caliber .38 pistol to the authorities on March 18, 2025.
The firearm, which had a defaced serial number, was initially turned over by a concerned citizen to Chairman Dimaukom. Without hesitation, he immediately handed it over to the Datu Saudi Ampatuan Municipal Police Station (MPS), reinforcing local efforts to combat the proliferation of illegal firearms and maintain peace and order in the community.
PCPT Joseph Cire M. Galarpe, Chief of Police of Datu Saudi Ampatuan MPS, commended the vital role of community members in reporting illegal activities. He assured that all surrendered firearms would undergo proper procedures, including a ballistics examination, to determine any possible involvement in criminal activities.
The firearm is currently in the custody of the Datu Saudi Ampatuan MPS and is set to be transferred to the Regional Forensic Unit (RFU BAR) for further examination and proper disposition.
This initiative aligns with ongoing government campaigns aimed at reducing gun violence, strengthening peacekeeping efforts, and ensuring strict enforcement of firearm regulations. Authorities continue to encourage community participation in reporting illegal firearms, emphasizing collective responsibility in maintaining safety and security across the region.
