Ampatuan, Maguindanao Del Sur – March 17, 2025 – A joint military and law enforcement operation led to the successful arrest of a suspect linked to the DI Hassan Group in Purok 5, Barangay Kapinpilan, Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.
The operation, conducted at approximately 5:30 AM, was a coordinated effort between the Charlie Coy, 90th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army (90IB, PA), Ampatuan Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (MDSPPO), and the 2nd Mobile Platoon (2MP) of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of MDSPPO.
Upon clearing the area, security forces discovered a shanty where they spotted a male individual attempting to flee. The suspect, identified as Alias Dagul, attempted to escape towards Purok 5 but was apprehended after a hot pursuit operation within the same vicinity.
During the operation, authorities discovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) inside the shanty where the suspect had been hiding. The IED was immediately secured and is currently under the custody of the Provincial Explosives and Canine Unit (PECU) of Maguindanao Del Sur for technical evaluation.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in a shooting incident on December 9, 2024, at Purok 3, Barangay Poblacion, Ampatuan. A case for Frustrated Murder had already been filed against him at the Maguindanao Del Sur Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
Alias Dagul was informed of his constitutional rights upon arrest and is currently in the custody of Ampatuan MPS for proper legal proceedings. Authorities continue to probe the extent of the suspect’s involvement in criminal activities linked to the DI Hassan Group.
