Tacurong City continues to prioritize the protection and empowerment of women through two significant initiatives: the Functionality Assessment for Violence Against Women (VAW) Desk In-charge and the ongoing WomenLympics 2025.

From March 3 to 10, 2025, the Inter-Agency Monitoring Team (IAMT) conducted the Functionality Assessment across the city’s 20 barangays to ensure that VAW Desks remain responsive, efficient, and fully equipped to support victims of violence. Chaired by the CLGOO, Atty. Ryan Alair, represented by Ms. Victoria S. Dolido, and co-chaired by OSWD Officer Ms. Nancy M. Bawe, RSW, represented by Ms. Charro B. Muyco, RSW, RPm, SWO III, the IAMT included members Elmer Felongco, Diana T. Guadalupe, MPA, Lovely P. Baira, LPT, Marlow Anthony B. Buenacosa, RN, Lisa A. Parreño, and Gerald A. Voatacion. Ms. Sheree Ann Q. Jabonillo, RSW, and Ms. Emely C. Ragasa, RSW, served as Secretariat.
As a mandated annual activity, the assessment reinforces Tacurong City’s commitment to protecting women’s rights and maintaining a safe environment for all. The results of this evaluation will serve as a basis for improving the handling of VAW cases and enhancing victim-centered services in barangays.
Meanwhile, WomenLympics 2025 continues today, March 13, 2025, at the Tacurong City Cultural and Sports Center. The event features ball games such as volleyball and table tennis, alongside mind games like Boggle/Word Factory and Scrabble. Organized by the City of Tacurong Council for the Development of Women (CTCDW), the WomenLympics is part of the city’s celebration of National Women’s Month. This year’s theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa BAGONG PILIPINAS,” highlights the vital role of women in shaping a progressive future.
These initiatives demonstrate Tacurong City’s unwavering dedication to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Together, we stand against violence and champion a brighter future for all women.
