Tacurong City has taken a significant step in strengthening its disaster response efforts with the acquisition of five new rescue vehicles, secured through the initiative of Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) member Hon. Jose A. Lim, V. The vehicles were obtained with the support of the Dumper Partylist, aiming to enhance the city’s search and rescue capabilities.
Hon. Lim, who serves as the chairperson of the SP Committee on Disaster and Risk Reduction Management, spearheaded the initiative to improve emergency response services in the city’s barangays. The official turnover of the rescue vehicles took place on March 24, 2025, with City Mayor Joseph George L. Lechonsito, MD, DPA personally signing the memorandum of agreement for the donation.
The newly acquired rescue vehicles will be distributed to five barangays: San Emmanuel, San Antonio, Baras, New Lagao, and Rajah Muda. These areas will now have improved emergency response capacities, ensuring quicker and more efficient disaster response.
The turnover ceremony was attended by key city officials, including Hon. Lim and fellow SP members Hon. Geraldine Collado and Hon. Bernardino Umadhay, Jr. Also present were LDRRMO Engr. Hilda Mercado and the respective Punong Barangay and barangay officials of the recipient communities.
This development highlights Tacurong City’s commitment to disaster preparedness and risk reduction, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
