North Cotabato Province has expanded and intensified its health programs through aggressive and comprehensive implementation of various projects. This was highlighted in the State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Tuesday, March 17, 2025.
As part of these efforts, the provincial government has been reaching out to communities, including remote barangays, to deliver essential health services. These services include medical and dental missions, mass chest X-rays, HIV testing, mental health check-ups, vaccinations, and the distribution of vitamins and medicines. The goal is to provide necessary interventions and prevent the spread of infectious and concerning diseases. Additionally, infrastructure projects related to the renovation and upgrading of medical facilities are being prioritized.
Among the key developments is the construction of super health centers, funded by the Department of Health (DOH) with a budget of PHP 126 million. Eleven of these centers have already been turned over to beneficiary local government units, with another one set for handover soon. The provincial government is also overseeing the construction of Rural Health Units (RHUs) in Arakan and Libungan. Meanwhile, the Banisilan District Hospital is now in Phase V of its development, supported by the DOH, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the provincial government.
Further health infrastructure projects include a PHP 30 million ongoing construction of a two-story Hemodialysis Unit at the University of Southern Mindanao in Kabacan. Additionally, a PHP 500 million upgrading project for the Cotabato Provincial Hospital is in progress, with necessary documents being prepared for its commencement. These initiatives have been made possible through the collaboration of the DOH and 3rd District Representative Ma. Alana Samantha T. Santos.
With these strategic programs and developments, Cotabato Province remains committed to enhancing healthcare services and ensuring better access to medical assistance for its people.
