Under the leadership of Regional Director Lominog M. Lao, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Lanao has been invited to participate in the Women, Peace, and Security Accompaniment Program. This initiative, a vital component of the Bae a Tomanor sa Ranaw (BT’RA) Community-Based Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding Initiative, was organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC). The event was held at N Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
Among the notable participants were prominent Maranao women leaders, including Bae Anisah M. Laguindab, Bae Kharima Ananggo, Bae Jamerah Lalanto, Bae Sittie Rahana Jhan Ganda, and Bae Noraisa Sani. As active members of the BT’RA network, these women mediators play a crucial role in advancing conflict resolution and peacebuilding efforts in Lanao del Sur.
A key feature of this program is the Women Insider Mediators Rapid Action Mobilization Platform (WIM-RAMP), launched by UNDP in 2021. This initiative has been instrumental in training women leaders within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in mediation and dispute resolution. By equipping them with essential skills and knowledge, WIM-RAMP enhances their capacity to foster peace within their respective communities.
This engagement provides an opportunity for Maranao women leaders to exchange best practices, discuss mediation cases, and develop action plans for community-based conflict prevention. Their active participation highlights the essential role of women in promoting peace, stability, and inclusive conflict resolution in the region.
The Women, Peace, and Security Accompaniment Program underscores the importance of empowering women as key agents in conflict mediation and peacebuilding, reaffirming their role in creating a more peaceful and resilient society in BARMM.
