Maguindanao del Sur – Authorities from the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) successfully recovered PhP32,000 worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes during a crime prevention operation on March 19, 2025, at the Public Market in Barangay Poblacion, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur.
According to the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, personnel from the Datu Paglas Municipal Police Station discovered the contraband while patrolling the area. The officers recovered fifty reams of Fort cigarettes valued at PhP16,000 and fifty reams of FAR cigarettes worth PhP960. The items were abandoned and found in a suspicious manner, prompting immediate police action.
Barangay officials were present to witness the marking and inventory of the confiscated items, which will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) BARMM for further examination and proper custody.
Police Brigadier General Romeo J. Macapaz, Regional Director of PRO BAR, praised the efforts of the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office in combating smuggling, illegal drugs, and other criminal activities. He also encouraged the public to support PRO BAR’s campaign to uphold peace and security in the Bangsamoro communities.
