CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – A foreign national was apprehended by Pulis de Motor personnel of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) for grave threat and illegal possession of firearms in Iligan City on March 13, 2025.
The suspect, identified as alias “Oliver,” a 30-year-old New Zealander and businessman residing in Iligan City, was arrested following a hot pursuit operation conducted by the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO), City Intelligence Unit (CIU), and Regional Intelligence Division (RID).
At around 6:20 PM on March 13, authorities received a report regarding an alleged grave threat involving a firearm. The suspect, who was accompanied by his wife, was seen fleeing the scene in a red Toyota FJ Cruiser toward Barangay Del Carmen. Responding police units immediately launched a hot pursuit operation, leading to the suspect’s apprehension in Zone 4, Barangay Del Carmen, Iligan City.
Upon arrest, authorities confiscated multiple firearms and ammunition from the suspect’s possession. Seized items included one .40 Cal STI pistol, one KG 9 9mm Intratech Luger submachine gun, four .40 Cal steel magazines, one KG 9 9mm steel magazine, and live ammunition for various calibers.
The suspect and the confiscated firearms are currently under the custody of PS1-ICPO for booking and proper documentation. Charges for Grave Threat, violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and violation of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban are set to be filed against him.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO10, commended the operating units for their swift response and reaffirmed PRO10’s commitment to enforcing the law.
“The immediate apprehension of the suspect underscores our firm stance against criminality. PRO10 remains vigilant in upholding peace and security, ensuring strict compliance with firearms regulations and the COMELEC gun ban,” De Guzman stated.
