Villanueva, Misamis Oriental – In a determined effort to combat illegal drug activities, the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MORPPO) successfully conducted a buy-bust operation on February 4, 2025, at 10:16 PM in Purok 2, Barangay Poblacion 3.
According to a report submitted by PCOL Wilbur M. Salaguste, Provincial Director of MORPPO, to PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director, the operation resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old male suspect. The suspect, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion 3, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, was identified as married and jobless.
During the operation, authorities confiscated one small heat-sealed elongated rectangular plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, which was used as the buy-bust item. Additional seized items included an orange disposable lighter, Php 1,000 buy-bust money, a brown coin purse, four assorted heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a black pouch, a digital weighing scale, and a blue touchscreen cellphone. The confiscated drugs weighed approximately 12 grams, with an estimated street value of Php 81,600.
The suspect is currently detained at the Villanueva Municipal Police Station for booking and proper disposition, as authorities prepare appropriate charges against him.
PCOL Salaguste commended the operating personnel for their successful operation and encouraged MORPPO personnel to sustain their relentless efforts in eradicating illegal activities within the province. He also emphasized the importance of reinvigorating anti-criminality campaigns to ensure public safety and order.
Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal drugs, reinforcing the collective responsibility of the community in maintaining peace and security in Misamis Oriental.
