VILLANUEVA, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Authorities arrested a high-value drug personality in a successful buy-bust operation in the early hours of July 30, 2025, in Barangay San Martin, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
The operation was led by the Villanueva Municipal Police Station (MPS) under the command of PMAJ Princess Obrique Bergado, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 10.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Marjun,” a 40-year-old resident of Zone 4, Poblacion, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, was apprehended at around 2:22 a.m. in Purok 5, Barangay San Martin after selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover operative in exchange for a marked PHP 1,000 bill.
Police recovered the following items from the suspect during the arrest:
- 49 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 206 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 1.4 million
- A purple backpack
- A pink soap container
- An improvised white case
- An Oppo touchscreen cellphone
- A brown leather wallet
- A voter’s ID
“This significant accomplishment is not just a victory for law enforcement but a triumph for the people of Misamis Oriental,” said PCOL Wilbur M. Salaguste, Provincial Director of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MORPPO). “It shows our commitment to eradicate illegal drugs from our communities and protect our citizens—especially the youth—from the harmful effects of this menace.”
The arrest is part of the intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign being implemented by the Misamis Oriental police in support of the national government’s crackdown on narcotics. Authorities vowed to continue intelligence-driven operations and maintain strong coordination with local communities and stakeholders.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will face charges in violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
