Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao del Sur – A significant gathering took place in Barangay Tukanalugong, where four Brigade Commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) met with the Peace Security and Reconciliation Office (PSRO) to discuss pressing issues affecting MILF communities and law enforcement agencies.
The consultation aimed to assess the relationship between MILF communities and security forces amid recent incidents that reportedly resulted in negative outcomes for civilians. A major concern raised during the discussion was the alleged lack of coordination between authorities and Moro combatants when security operations are conducted in these areas.
Officials from the Bangsamoro Government emphasized that violations occurring in communities should not be ignored, as they could jeopardize the existing Peace Agreement. Keynote speakers highlighted the importance of the ongoing peace process, stressing that both sides must work together to maintain stability and progress.
One of the main appeals made during the meeting was for improved coordination whenever activities are conducted within MILF communities. Bangsamoro fighters were reminded that cooperation and mutual understanding are essential to sustaining peace.
The PSRO and the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group – Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (AHJAG-CCCH) reiterated to MILF leaders that the peace talks remain active. They urged all parties to safeguard the peace process and prevent disruptions caused by personal or political interests.
The dialogue reaffirmed the commitment of both MILF and government representatives to ensuring a peaceful and harmonious coexistence, reinforcing the necessity of continuous engagement and trust-building measures in the region.
