Sixteen Bangsamoro political parties joined a Parliamentary Learning Visit to Sri Lanka in response to an invitation from the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD). The visit aimed to strengthen political parties in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) by studying Sri Lanka’s post-conflict governance strategies, particularly in governance, reconciliation, and decentralization, which could be applicable to the region’s political landscape.
During the visit, participating parties also discussed enhancing the operational and organizational structures of political organizations, seeking models that could be effectively adapted to BARMM. Additionally, the experience provided valuable insights into managing multi-religious and multi-ethnic political parties, emphasizing the importance of inclusive participation in the political process.
Among the parties that took part in the learning visit were Al-Ittihad UKB Party, Amanat Democratic Party, Bangsamoro Federal Party, BARMM Grand Coalition, Bangsamoro Party, Indigenous Peoples Democratic Party, Sama and Minorities Alliance (ISAMA) Party, Mahardika Party, Moro Ako Party, Partido Bangon Bangsamoro, Progresibong Bangsamoro Party, Raa’yat Democratic Party (Bangsamoro People’s Democratic Party), Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party, United Advocates for Settler Communities, and United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP).
