Jolo, Sulu – February 2, 2024 – Two suspected drug personalities were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Jolo Municipal Police Station (MPS) at Sitio 477, Barangay Asturias, Jolo, Sulu, at around 8:10 PM.
Police identified the suspects as Alvin Columbres Sappayani, 46, an unemployed single man, and Damsid Alim Muksarin, 41, a married fisherman. Both are residents of Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu.
During the operation, authorities confiscated three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing approximately 20 grams and valued at PHP 136,000. Additionally, one sachet of suspected shabu weighing about 3 grams, worth PHP 20,400, was seized as part of the transaction. Other confiscated items included three PHP 500 bills, PHP 400 in various denominations, a red Honda 125CC single motorcycle, drug paraphernalia, and other pieces of evidence.
The suspects are currently detained at the Jolo MPS detention facility while charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against them.
The successful operation was carried out through the combined efforts of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Sulu, the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Sulu Provincial Police Office, the Regional Intelligence Unit-9, and the 11th Military Intelligence Battalion.
