ALABEL, Sarangani – The Protected Area Management Office-Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (PAMO-SBPS) has successfully installed an automated weather station (AWS) in Alabel, Sarangani, to improve weather detection and monitoring in the region.
The newly installed AWS is a solar-powered system equipped with multi-parameter sensors designed to record and monitor various weather conditions. These include air humidity, pressure, temperature, wind speed and direction, solar radiation, soil moisture, and temperature.
PAMO-SBPS highlighted the significance of leveraging technology to protect the people of Sarangani and its environment while promoting resilience against climate-related challenges. The AWS is expected to serve as a valuable tool for providing timely alerts and warnings to communities, ensuring preparedness during natural phenomena and extreme weather events.
Researchers interested in accessing AWS data are encouraged to submit a formal written request for available information. The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance disaster preparedness and environmental conservation in the province.
