ZAMBOANGA CITY – Save the Children Philippines, spearheaded by Program Coordinator Ms. Zenona Gread and Project Officer Ms. Jade Paitan, conducted a monitoring visit on January 27 to assess the progress of the Mapangbata module roll-out in the region.

Mapangbata is a structured module integrated into the Family Development Sessions (FDS) of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). It aims to promote positive parenting and child-sensitive practices that uphold children’s rights, foster development, and ensure overall well-being.

The visit commenced with a meeting involving 4Ps focal persons, where key matters concerning the module’s implementation were discussed. This was followed by an on-site observation at San Jose Gusu, Zamboanga City, where the module was facilitated for beneficiaries.

Despite financial constraints, the region has made remarkable strides in the roll-out. A total of 668 4Ps field implementers have been successfully trained. Plans are in place to extend the training to untrained City and Municipal Links, as well as Community Facilitators in Zamboanga Sibugay and other parts of Zamboanga City.

During the visit, City Link Joel Capa received commendation from visitors and partners for his effective facilitation of the module and for fostering active participation among beneficiaries.

The activity was attended by key officials, including the 4Ps Regional Program Coordinator, FDS Focal, Social Welfare Officer III Norico Quinain, Youth Development Session Focal, and Regional Case Management Focal. Representatives from the Gender and Development sector, Training Specialists, and the Institutional Partnership Division were also present.

The Department remains confident that increased awareness and knowledge of the Mapangbata module will empower 4Ps beneficiaries and enhance the well-being of families enrolled in the program.
