Malapatan, Sarangani Province – In a significant development towards peace and security, a former member of the dismantled Guerilla Front 71 (GF 71) TALA under the Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) voluntarily surrendered to joint security forces at Barangay Payag, Malapatan, Sarangani Province, on January 29, 2025.
The surrenderee, identified as alias “Dennis,” is a 39-year-old farmer and resident of Purok Datal Lanao, Barangay Lun Padidu, Malapatan. He previously held the position of Vice Commanding Officer under CMDR Warren of GF 71 TALA.
The operation was carried out by the 1st Sarangani Provincial Mobile Force Company (SPMFC), in coordination with the Malapatan Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 12, Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 12, Sarangani Police Provincial Office (SPPO) Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Alpha Company of the 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, and the Sarangani Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA). This effort was part of the Minor Internal Security Operation Oplan Pagbago and the Revitalized Police Sa Barangay (R-PSB) program.
As part of his surrender, alias “Dennis” turned over a .38 caliber revolver without a serial number and two live rounds of ammunition. He is now under the custody of the 1st Sarangani PMFC at Kawas, Alabel, Sarangani Province, for documentation and proper disposition.
Authorities have confirmed that alias “Dennis” will be enrolled in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which aims to provide livelihood assistance, skills training, and other forms of support to help him reintegrate into society.
This successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of law enforcement and military units in maintaining peace and security in the region while encouraging former rebels to return to the folds of the law. Authorities continue to urge remaining insurgents to lay down their arms and take advantage of government reintegration programs for a better future.
