Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte — In a decisive anti-smuggling operation conducted on January 7, 2025, authorities from the Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office (ZNPPO), in collaboration with the Dipolog City Police Station (CPS), intercepted Php 687,600 worth of smuggled cigarettes in Purok Tonggo, Brgy. Minaog.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of 12 cases of assorted illicit tobacco products, underscoring the unwavering commitment of the ZNPPO personnel to combat smuggling activities and safeguard public welfare.

PCOL Rainier P. Diaz, Provincial Director of the ZNPPO, commended the operatives for their vigilance and efficiency in the operation. He emphasized that the successful interception serves not only to protect the community from the harmful effects of illegal goods but also ensures that proper taxes are collected for all products entering the province.

“By preventing these contrabands from reaching the market, we are upholding public safety, promoting economic stability, and contributing to the integrity of lawful trade in our region,” said PCOL Diaz.

The operation took place at approximately 3:34 AM, with the team leveraging precise intelligence and coordination to intercept the contraband. The effort aligns with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) mission to safeguard communities and promote the principles of accountability and lawful commerce under the #BagongPilipinas initiative.

Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activities involving smuggling to their local police stations or the ZNPPO through their hotline at 0998-598-6764.

This successful operation is another testament to the PNP’s dedication to its motto, “To Serve and Protect,” as it continues its relentless efforts to combat illegal activities in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
