Two individuals were killed in separate shooting incidents in Maguindanao del Norte and Pahamuddin, SGA-BARMM, highlighting ongoing concerns about violence in the region.
In Sitio Dulayap, Barangay Panggao, Barira, Maguindanao del Norte, a 65-year-old senior citizen, Unday Ragundo, was shot dead early Sunday morning around 2:00 a.m. According to Barira MPS Acting Chief PCaptain Joel Albao, the suspect, identified as Pharok Ragundo, fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities recovered several spent shells of a caliber .45 pistol believed to have been used in the killing. Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the crime.
In another incident, a barangay kagawad was gunned down in Purok 1, Barangay Lower Baguer, Pahamuddin, on Saturday night at around 11:49 p.m. The victim, Abdulmaguid Mala Lidasan, 36, was shot dead near his residence. Five spent shells of 5.56mm ammunition were recovered from the crime scene. The identities of the gunmen and their motives are still under investigation.
Authorities in both cases are continuing their inquiries as they work to address the escalating violence in the region.
