In line with the intensified campaign against illegal drug activities, the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) arrested two suspects and seized suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation on December 12, 2024, in Barobo, Surigao del Sur.
Police Colonel Harry B. Domingo, Provincial Director of SDSPPO, identified the arrested suspects as a.k.a. “Ibrahim,” 38, and a.k.a. “Fahad,” 34, both residents of Purok 2, Barangay Ong-Yu, Butuan City. Ibrahim is listed as a high-value individual (HVI), while Fahad is categorized as a street-level individual (SLI) and ready-for-listing pusher. Both suspects are jobless and married.
The operation, led by personnel from SDSPPO’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and Barobo Municipal Police Station (MPS), was conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Surigao del Sur (PDEA-SDS). The arrest occurred at approximately 6:53 PM in Purok 7, Sitio Bay-bay 2, Barangay Dapdap, Barobo.
Authorities confiscated five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing approximately 40 grams and with an estimated street value of PHP 272,000. Other seized items included one PHP 1,000 bill marked as buy-bust money, a violet Oppo Android cellphone, a white keypad Samsung cellphone, a black sling bag, and a blue sling bag. The body search was conducted in an orderly manner and witnessed by a barangay official and a media representative.
The suspects were informed of their Constitutional Rights under the Miranda Warning and the Anti-Torture Act during the arrest. They are now under the custody of Barobo MPS along with the confiscated items for proper disposition.
“The SDSPPO will continue to fight against illegal drugs with our best efforts. What we have accomplished has been made possible with the help of our community. Together with concerned agencies, let us work vigorously to end the illegal drug menace that threatens the lives of our sons and daughters in Surigao del Sur,” said PCOL Domingo.
The SDSPPO reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating illegal drugs in the province and called on the public to support their ongoing efforts to protect the community from the dangers of substance abuse.
