Alabel, Sarangani Province – December 6, 2024
In a decisive operation aimed at curbing illegal drug activities, the Sarangani Police Provincial Office (SPPO) in collaboration with various law enforcement units successfully apprehended a street-level individual during a buy-bust operation in Purok Bitos, Barangay Poblacion, Alabel, Sarangani Province.
The suspect, identified only as “Junnel,” a 19-year-old resident of Sitio Ihan, Barangay Datal Anggas, Alabel, was arrested for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operation was conducted by a joint team comprising personnel from Alabel Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit (MDEU), Sarangani Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (SPPO PDEU), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office XII Sargen Provincial Office, and the 1st Sarangani Provincial Mobile Force Company (SPMFC).
Seized Items
Authorities recovered the following items from the suspect:
- One medium-sized zip-locked sachet containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with stalks and seeds
- One rolled newspaper containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with stalks and seeds
- One large-sized heat-sealed transparent cellophane containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with stalks and seeds
- One EMI matchbox containing suspected dried marijuana leaves with stalks and seeds
- Buy-bust money: one Php 200 bill
The confiscated marijuana, with a total weight of approximately 32 grams, has an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) value of Php 3,200.
Legal Procedures and Evidence Handling
The inventory and marking of the seized evidence were conducted on-site, with the presence of two mandatory witnesses to ensure transparency and adherence to legal protocols. The confiscated items were then submitted to the PNP Regional Forensic Unit (RFU-12) in General Santos City for laboratory examination.
The suspect is currently detained at the Alabel Municipal Police Station, awaiting appropriate legal proceedings.
Law enforcement authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations in the region as part of their ongoing efforts to ensure a drug-free community.
