General Santos City – Authorities from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 12 successfully intercepted a shipment of marijuana bricks weighing approximately 7,000 grams in Barangay Apopong, along the National Highway, at around 3:30 PM yesterday, November 6, 2024.
The illegal package, concealed as a legitimate delivery, was seized from a major courier service’s facility in the city. The estimated value of the contraband is pegged at ₱840,000.
According to PDEA 12, the shipment originated from an unidentified sender and was destined for General Santos City. Efforts are currently underway to identify both the sender and the intended recipient of the marijuana.
As of now, no charges have been filed against any individual as authorities are still investigating the identities of those involved in the illegal shipment. No one has claimed the package, further complicating the case.
PDEA 12 assured the public of intensified efforts to track down those responsible and prevent similar incidents. This latest operation forms part of the agency’s ongoing campaign to combat illegal drug trafficking in the region.
