Panabo City, Davao del Norte—December 5, 2024
In a significant push to uplift the status of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) in Region XI, particularly in Davao Oriental, Governor Niño Uy joined President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for the distribution of land titles and Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (COCROM) today. The event, held in Panabo City, was spearheaded by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Region XI.
The initiative focused on providing Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage (COCROMs), Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs), and Electronic Titles (E-Titles) to ARBs. These documents affirm DAR’s commitment to empowering farmers by granting them secure ownership of the land they till.
In Davao Oriental alone, 1,820 COCROMs were issued, covering a total of 3,072.3839 hectares. The condoned debts amounted to an impressive ₱75,819,734.81, benefitting 1,606 local farmers.
Governor Uy expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Marcos Jr. and the DAR for spearheading this transformative initiative. He emphasized that the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental remains steadfast in its commitment to agricultural development, recognizing it as a vital pillar of the province’s economy.
“This program ensures not only land ownership but also dignity and security for our farmers. It is a step forward in our shared goal of economic progress and rural empowerment,” said Governor Uy.
The activity aligns with the implementation of Republic Act No. 11953, also known as the New Agrarian Reform Emancipation Act. This legislation mandates the condonation of unpaid debts by ARBs who were awarded land under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
The distribution underscores the government’s dedication to providing long-term support for farmers, enabling them to achieve greater economic stability and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s food security.
