Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental – The City Drug Enforcement Team (CDET) of Gingoog City Police Station successfully carried out a search warrant operation on December 9, 2024, resulting in the arrest of a high-value drug suspect and the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at PHP 115,600.
The operation took place in Purok-5, Barangay 20, Gingoog City, and led to the apprehension of a 43-year-old suspect identified by the alias “Eloy,” a first-time offender categorized as a Street Level Individual. However, “Berny,” his sibling and an alleged accomplice, remains at large.
Authorities revealed that initial investigations suggest “Eloy” sourced the illegal drugs from Marawi City. Seized during the operation were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, weighing approximately 17 grams. The drugs have an estimated Standard Drug Price of PHP 115,000. Other items recovered included an improvised scoop made from a green plastic straw, a blue disposable lighter with an improvised needle fashioned from aluminum foil, a white bond paper, and a rolled aluminum foil wrap.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Gingoog City Police Station for proper disposition. A case for violating Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against him.
PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), lauded the operating team for their unwavering efforts in the fight against illegal drugs.
“PRO10 will continue to apprehend individuals involved in illegal drug activities. Let this serve as a warning to those who choose to engage in illegal drug activities—PRO10 will relentlessly pursue justice and ensure the safety of our communities,” De Guzman stated.
This successful operation highlights the continued commitment of law enforcement agencies in Misamis Oriental to combat illegal drugs and safeguard the welfare of local communities.
