Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay — In a decisive anti-drug operation, joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office, Malangas Municipal Police Station, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and the 106th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army apprehended two suspects on November 25, 2024, at around 9:30 AM in Purok Lower Kahayagan, Barangay La Dicha, Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The primary suspect, identified as Wilma Moren Abao, alias Wheng, 44, married, and a high school graduate residing in Purok Kahayagan, was ranked number 10 on the regional target drug list. Alongside her, authorities arrested her cohort, Bonifacio Tadea Abao, alias Dondon, a college-level student and resident of the same barangay.
Seized Items
Confiscated during the buy-bust operation were:
- Four heat-sealed sachets containing a crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing approximately 5.5 grams with an estimated market value of Php 37,400.
- A cigarette foil used as a container.
- A cigarette pack with one cigarette inside.
- A brown envelope containing buy-bust money.
- An Android phone (dark blue Tecno Spark).
- Boodle money topped with a genuine Php 1,000 bill used as marked buy-bust money.
Charges Filed
The suspects are set to face charges in court for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal drug activities in Zamboanga Sibugay, aiming to ensure safer communities in the region.
