Police Regional Office in Bangsamoro Ensures Smooth Filing of Candidacies for Historic 2025 BARMM Parliamentary Elections

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) — In a significant milestone for the region, the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) has successfully overseen the secure and orderly filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for the upcoming first-ever BARMM Parliamentary Elections in May 2025. This event marks a crucial step in the democratic process for the region, paving the way for a peaceful election under the newly established parliamentary system.

Under the leadership of Regional Director PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz, PRO BAR deployed an extensive security network across BARMM, demonstrating a strong commitment to maintaining public safety throughout the filing period from November 4 to 9, 2024. Security measures included the strategic deployment of security personnel, Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) teams, Quick Reaction Forces (QRF), and checkpoint operations. These efforts ensured enhanced police visibility and uninterrupted security at all key locations, including Commission on Elections (COMELEC) offices and other designated COC filing areas.

This meticulous planning and execution underscored the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) dedication to safeguarding democratic processes and reinforcing trust in a secure election environment. Speaking on the success of the operation, PBGEN Macapaz commended the professionalism and diligence of PRO BAR personnel and collaborating law enforcement agencies, whose unified efforts upheld peace and order during this critical phase of the election process.

“We are committed to delivering consistent, excellent public safety services, and this successful conduct of COC filing for BARMM’s historic elections is a testament to our dedication. PRO BAR will continue to uphold the peace and security of the region, particularly as we approach the May 2025 elections,” PBGEN Macapaz stated.

As BARMM approaches its inaugural parliamentary elections, the collective effort and vigilance of PRO BAR and other security agencies are vital to fostering an environment where democratic processes can flourish peacefully, setting a positive precedent for future elections.
