Pualas, Lanao del Sur – Five individuals were arrested in Barangay Talambo, Pualas, Lanao del Sur at around 4:10 PM for violating the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban amid the ongoing 2025 National and Local Elections.
The suspects, all residents of Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte, were apprehended for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to the election-related gun ban.
Law enforcers confiscated several high-powered firearms and ammunition during the operation, including:
- One (1) Armscor cal. .45 pistol (Serial No. 733894)
- One (1) Colt MK IV Series 80 cal. .45 pistol (Serial No. 538146)
- One (1) NP 22 cal. 9mm pistol (Serial No. A13006745)
- One (1) Colt MK IV Series 80 cal. .45 pistol (with defaced serial number)
- One (1) Armscor cal. .45 pistol (Serial No. 1283336)
- Nine (9) assorted magazines
- Eighty-two (82) rounds of live ammunition
The arrested individuals were informed of their constitutional rights in a language they clearly understood. They are currently detained at the Pualas Municipal Police Station (MPS), where appropriate criminal charges are being readied against them.
Provincial Director PCOL Robert S. Daculan of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO) lauded the successful joint operation led by the Pualas MPS with support from the 103rd Infantry Brigade, Regional Mobile Unit 9 (RMU-9), 2nd Lanao del Norte Action Command/Lanao Action Battalion (LAC/LAB), and the 63rd Special Action Company of the 6th Special Action Battalion (63rd SAC 6SAB).
The police emphasized that this operation reflects the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) firm commitment to ensuring peaceful and orderly elections through strict enforcement of the election gun ban.
The COMELEC gun ban is in effect during the election period and prohibits the unauthorized carrying and transport of firearms and deadly weapons to prevent violence and maintain public safety during the polls.
