COMELEC Officer in Sultan Kudarat Killed in Broad Daylight Shooting

President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat — An assistant election officer from Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, was fatally shot on Saturday, November 23, 2024, along the National Highway in Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Poblacion, this municipality.

The victim, identified as John Nico Allan Dionaldo Pandoy, was en route to his home aboard a black Yamaha Mio Gear motorcycle when he was pursued by two unidentified gunmen riding a separate motorcycle. Upon reaching Purok Sampaguita, the assailants opened fire, hitting Pandoy multiple times in different parts of his body.

Witnesses reported that the suspects immediately fled the scene in an unknown direction. Pandoy was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Pandoy, a resident of Purok Sampaguita, Barangay Poblacion, President Quirino, served as an assistant election officer for the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

Authorities from the President Quirino Municipal Police Station have launched an investigation to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the attack.

This shooting incident adds to a series of violent crimes in the region, raising concerns among residents about public safety. The police have appealed to the public for any information that may aid in resolving the case.

As of now, no suspects have been identified, and no motive has been established. The investigation remains ongoing.
