Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur – In a tragic incident on Thursday afternoon, November 14, 2024, two teenage brothers, Johari Moksin and Hamod Moksin, were shot and killed in an ambush along a highway in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur. The brothers, both minors, were traveling in a vehicle with license plate XPT 967 when two unidentified gunmen opened fire, ending their lives instantly.
Eyewitnesses reported the brazen attack took place in broad daylight with several bystanders present, intensifying the sense of shock and fear in the community. Witnesses described the gunmen as showing no hesitation, unleashing a hail of bullets on the victims’ vehicle.
The Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station and the Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police Office are conducting an investigation into the incident. Authorities have not yet released further details or identified any suspects, but updates are anticipated as the investigation unfolds.
In the aftermath, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) BARMM issued a statement addressing rumors circulating on social media. Videos and posts online have falsely implicated PDEA in the incident, prompting the agency to clarify its non-involvement. Regional Director Gil Cessrio P. Castro emphasized that PDEA BARMM was not connected to the shooting, condemning the spread of false information. Castro also reminded the public that making baseless accusations can result in legal consequences.
