Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur – May 18, 2025 —
A member of the Barangay Peace Action Team (BPAT) was killed while two others sustained injuries in a shooting incident that took place on Sunday afternoon in Barangay Poblacion, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur.
Initial reports indicate that the victims were onboard a vehicle owned by the local government of Shariff Aguak when unidentified gunmen opened fire as they passed through the area. The sudden ambush left one BPAT member dead at the scene, while his two companions were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities have yet to identify the victims pending notification of their families. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack and to identify those responsible.
The local police and military units have intensified security measures in the area following the incident, as concerns over safety and peace and order continue to grow.
