18 NPA Members Surrender to Authorities in Bukidnon, Turn Over Firearms and Documents

Maramag, Bukidnon — November 1, 2024

Eighteen members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to authorities on November 1, 2024, in Purok 10, South Poblacion, Maramag, Bukidnon. This development comes as a result of a collaborative operation between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), particularly the 48th Infantry Battalion (48IB) and Bukidnon’s 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The surrendering NPA members handed over three rifles, a .45-caliber pistol, and subversive documents containing calls for rebellion. Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10), expressed his gratitude for the cooperation between law enforcement agencies, which led to the success of this operation.

The former rebels will now undergo the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which provides assistance to former combatants reintegrating into society. E-CLIP offers support, livelihood opportunities, and security to help former rebels rebuild their lives within the community.

“I commend these individuals for their courage to surrender to the folds of the law,” PBGen De Guzman said in a statement. “PRO 10, along with the AFP and other law enforcement agencies, assures that those who surrender will be treated with dignity and provided with the necessary support for their reintegration.”

The recent surrender is seen as a significant step toward achieving peace in Bukidnon and surrounding areas, as more NPA members choose to abandon armed conflict in favor of peaceful reintegration.
