Malaybalay City, Bukidnon — November 6, 2024
In a decisive move against illegal drugs, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Malaybalay City Police Station successfully apprehended a high-value individual (HVI) and two newly identified suspects in a buy-bust operation on November 5, 2024. The operation took place in Purok 5, Brgy. Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
The primary suspect, known by the alias “Amar,” is a 24-year-old male, considered a high-value individual in local drug activities. Two other suspects, identified as “Mohammad,” a 19-year-old male found with suspected marijuana, and “Neziah,” a 21-year-old female who reportedly handled the buy-bust money on behalf of the primary suspect, were also arrested. All three individuals are residents of Malaybalay City and are reportedly students.
During the operation, authorities confiscated five heat-sealed sachets containing approximately 50.15 grams of suspected shabu, valued at PhP340,000.00. Additionally, two unsealed plastic bags containing dried marijuana leaves and stalks, weighing around 21 grams with an estimated value of PhP2,520.00, were seized. Other items collected as evidence included an improvised pipe, two disposable lighters, and a PhP1,000 bill used in the transaction.
Police investigations indicate that “Amar” and “Neziah” are in a relationship, while “Amar” and “Muhammad” are suspected associates in drug activities. The three reportedly sourced their supply from Marawi City, with Malaybalay City and nearby areas as their distribution points.
The suspects are currently detained at the Malaybalay City Police Station, with charges for violations of Sections 5, 11, 12, and 26 under Article II of R.A. No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, now being prepared.
Police Regional Office 10 Acting Regional Director PBGEN Jaysen C. De Guzman commended the Malaybalay City Police Station for their efforts in the successful operation. “The arrest of these individuals involved in illegal drugs is crucial in protecting our youth and keeping schools safe. Let’s work together to secure a drug-free future for our children,” he stated.
This accomplishment reflects ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug operations in the region, reinforcing law enforcement’s commitment to creating safer communities across Bukidnon.
