Two Arrested in Davao de Oro for Illegal Firearms and Drugs

Davao de Oro, October 16, 2024 – In two separate operations, law enforcement in Davao de Oro successfully arrested two individuals for illegal possession of firearms and one for illegal drugs.

In Maco, a 45-year-old man was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Maco Municipal Police Station in coordination with the CIDG Davao City Field Unit under OPLAN PAGLALANSAG OMEGA. The arrest took place at around 3:42 PM on October 15, 2024. Seized from the suspect was a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine, and five rounds of ammunition. The suspect has been taken to CIDG Davao for appropriate legal action and will face charges under Republic Act 10591, which regulates firearms possession.

Meanwhile, in Compostela, another male suspect was arrested on the evening of October 15, 2024, after being found in possession of an unregistered firearm and suspected illegal drugs. Police responded to a tip-off from a concerned citizen, who reported that the suspect was seen with a revolver while repairing his motorcycle in Purok 6, Barangay Tamia. Upon arrival, authorities found the man carrying a .38 caliber revolver and discovered two sachets of suspected shabu weighing 0.3 grams with a street value of approximately Php 2,040.00. The suspect’s black Honda Wave motorcycle, which had no license plate, was also impounded. The suspect is now in police custody facing charges under Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and Republic Act 10591.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to crack down on the illegal possession of firearms and drugs to ensure the safety and security of the community.
