Repeat Offender Arrested Again for Selling Illegal Drugs in Mati City

Mati City, Davao Oriental – A recidivist drug offender was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in coordination with local police forces on October 12, 2024. The suspect, identified as Arcel Ebrada Daganio, 33, also known as “Boboy,” was caught selling illegal drugs in Barangay Central, Mati City.

The joint operation, led by agents from the Davao Oriental Provincial Office of PDEA Regional Office XI, along with the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office and the Mati City Police Station, took place at around 10:20 p.m. at Rabat Rocamora, Barangay Central. Daganio, a resident of Lower Salazar in the same barangay, was apprehended after selling a small heat-sealed sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “shabu,” worth PHP 1,000 to undercover agents.

Upon his arrest, authorities seized four additional sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and the marked buy-bust money used in the operation. The total evidence collected is now in police custody for further examination.

Daganio was previously arrested in January 2020 for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. After availing of a plea-bargaining agreement, he was released in October 2020. Despite being given a second chance, Daganio returned to drug dealing, leading to his latest arrest.

He is currently detained at the Mati City Police Station Jail Facility, and new charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against him.

Authorities continue to intensify their efforts to combat illegal drugs in the region, and repeat offenders like Daganio remain a high priority in the government’s anti-drug campaign.
