Zamboanga City, Philippines – On October 11, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM, elements of the Zamboanga City Maritime Police Station (ZC MARPSTA) conducted a Seaborne Patrol in the seawaters of Brgy Cawit, Zamboanga City and Brgy Panigayan, Isabela City, Basilan. The patrol resulted in the apprehension of three unlicensed crew members.
During the interdiction of a motorized fishing boat, authorities apprehended the three individuals for violating Section 113 of Republic Act 10654, which pertains to commercial fishing vessel operators employing unlicensed fishworkers or crew.
The seized vessel, along with the three apprehended suspects, were brought to the ZC MARPSTA for proper documentation and the filing of the appropriate case at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region IX.
