Jolo, Sulu – October 28, 2024 – Authorities seized an estimated Php370,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes during a checkpoint operation on Moore Ave., Barangay Alat, Jolo, on Sunday afternoon.
The operation was led by the Jolo Municipal Police Station under Police Lieutenant Colonel Annidul M. Sali, in collaboration with personnel from the 1404th Regional Mobile Force Company-B and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 14-B.
At approximately 5:30 PM, police inspected an abandoned Nissan Navara with the license plate JCT 4725, which revealed ten boxes of Berlin Brand smuggled cigarettes, amounting to the significant value.
The Jolo Police are conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the suspects responsible for this illegal activity and ensure that those behind the smuggling are held accountable under the law.
