Siasi, Sulu — In a sustained campaign against smuggling and to strengthen peace and order in the region, authorities intercepted ten (10) boxes of smuggled Cannon cigarettes valued at approximately PHP 200,000 on April 17, 2025.
The illicit goods were discovered abandoned along the boulevard in Barangay North Laud, Siasi, Sulu, after a concerned citizen alerted authorities about their suspicious presence in the area.
Responding swiftly to the tip-off, personnel from the Siasi Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the 4th Maneuver Platoon of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted the operation, which led to the recovery of the contraband left by unidentified individuals.
The confiscated cigarettes are currently secured at the Siasi MPS and will be officially turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
PBGEN Romeo J. Macapaz, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), lauded the quick action of the police and the vigilance of the local community. He emphasized that the continued cooperation between law enforcement and the public remains vital in safeguarding peace, order, and public trust throughout the region.
