Php680K Worth of Suspected Drugs Seized in Zamboanga City Buy-Bust Operation

Zamboanga City, October 22, 2024 — A coordinated drug sting led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the seizure of illegal drugs valued at approximately Php680,000.

The operation took place at 12:20 PM in Zone 2, Boalan, Zamboanga City, involving the PDEA Regional Special Enforcement Team, the PDEA Zamboanga City Office, the Zamboanga City Police Office, and the Technical Support Company from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9.

Authorities arrested Christian Dave Peralta y Hermosa, a 24-year-old mechanic and senior high school graduate from Tetuan, Zamboanga City. During the buy-bust operation, officers confiscated two heat-sealed transparent plastic packs containing around 100 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine).

In addition to the drugs, law enforcement officials recovered a motorcycle, a cellular phone, a belt bag, a trash bag, and the money used in the sting operation.

A case for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against Peralta in court, as authorities continue their crackdown on illegal drug activities in the region.

This operation underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat the drug problem in the Philippines and ensure the safety of communities. Further investigations are expected to follow as officials work to dismantle drug networks in Zamboanga City.
