In a significant move toward peace, two warring families in Pagalungan, Maguindanao have reconciled, putting an end to a long-standing armed conflict. The reconciliation took place on September 13, 2024, under the leadership of Pagalungan Municipal Police Station Chief, PCPT Datumasla B. Mangalangkat, and 90th Infantry Battalion Commander, LTC Rowel E. Gavilanes, with the support of Pagalungan Mayor Salik P. Mamasabulod.
The conflict, involving the families of Lumandao Matalam, also known as “Kundaw,” and Marco Limpangan, alias “Begkog,” had been a source of tension in the area. In an effort to resolve the feud, both families were brought to the negotiating table for an open dialogue, where they agreed to end their dispute.
The peace talks culminated in the signing of a peace agreement by representatives from both sides, marking a crucial step toward restoring harmony in the community. The reconciliation process emphasizes the importance of peacebuilding initiatives that address the root causes of conflict, promote dialogue, and integrate traditional practices to resolve tensions.
