HTLP Expels Javi Garcia-Campos Over Breach of Party Loyalty

Davao City, October 8, 2024 – The Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod Party (HTLP) has announced the expulsion of Javi Garcia-Campos from its ranks, citing serious breaches of party loyalty and conduct. The decision, made after thorough evaluation, underscores the party’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and loyalty—principles central to HTLP’s political mission.

In an official statement, HTLP Secretary General Sebastian Z. Duterte confirmed that Garcia-Campos was expelled for engaging in undisclosed activities with a political party known for opposing the interests of the people of Davao City. These actions were found to violate Article 7, Section 6(b) of the party’s constitution, which prohibits collaboration with outside entities without prior approval.

“Mr. Garcia’s actions constitute a betrayal of trust and compromise the integrity of our party,” the statement said. “His secretive collusion with an opposing party, which holds an anti-people stance, directly undermines our mission to promote the welfare of Dabawenyos.”

The HTLP also addressed the broader context of political pressure being exerted on its members. Duterte highlighted concerns that the current national administration has withheld essential funding from local officials loyal to the legacy of former President Rodrigo Duterte. In response, some members of the party have been offered significant financial incentives to switch allegiances.

“These budget offers are an attempt to weaken our party’s loyalty and commitment to our constituents,” the statement continued. “We cannot and will not tolerate actions that compromise our core values.”

The HTLP thanked its loyal members for their continued support and urged unity as the party works toward the betterment of Davao City. “Together, we remain dedicated to serving the people of Davao with integrity and purpose.”

Javi Garcia-Campos has not yet issued a public response to his expulsion.
