Gun Runner Arrested by CIDG in Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte

A suspected gun runner was arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) BARMM during an entrapment operation on Sunday afternoon, October 6, in Sitio Sarmiento, Barangay Langkong, Matanog, Maguindanao del Norte.

The CIDG BARMM Regional Chief, Lt. Col. Ariel Huesca, identified the suspect as Camarodin Lidasan Gampomg, also known as “Camaru,” a 34-year-old resident of Barangay Lamin-lamin, Barira, Maguindanao del Norte. Gampomg was caught in the act of selling firearms to an undercover CIDG agent.

During the operation, authorities confiscated a caliber 5.56mm rifle, along with a magazine and ammunition from the suspect.

Gampomg will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, which penalizes the illegal sale of firearms and ammunition.

The successful operation is part of CIDG’s ongoing efforts to curb the illegal arms trade in the Bangsamoro region, a persistent problem linked to criminal activities and insurgency in the area. Lt. Col. Huesca reiterated CIDG’s commitment to ensuring peace and security in the region through continuous intelligence-driven operations.
