Drug Peddler Arrested in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi in Anti-Drug Operation

On October 2, 2024, Bongao Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Tawi-Tawi successfully apprehended a drug peddler following a tip-off from a concerned citizen regarding illegal drug activities in Barangay Tubig Mampallam. Acting swiftly on the information, Bongao MPS, along with personnel from the Tawi-Tawi 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), responded to the reported location.

The suspect, identified by the alias “Ben,” was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs, leading to his immediate arrest for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Confiscated from the suspect were:

  • Two (2) heat-sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu, weighing approximately 4.500 grams, with an estimated street value of Php 30,600.00
  • Various drug paraphernalia

Following standard procedures, the seized drugs and paraphernalia were documented, marked, and inventoried at the scene. The suspect and the confiscated evidence were then brought to Bongao MPS for further investigation and proper legal disposition.

The Police Regional Office BAR, led by Regional Director PBGEN Prexy D. Tangawhon, reiterated their commitment to maintaining rigorous anti-drug operations across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). PBGEN Tangawhon also emphasized the importance of public cooperation in these efforts, which plays a crucial role in the continued fight against illegal drugs in the region.

This operation underscores the dedication of law enforcement agencies in BARMM to eliminating the illegal drug trade and ensuring the safety and security of the community.
