Davao Light Announces P1.03/kWh Drop in October Electricity Rates

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) has reduced its residential electricity rate by P1.0277 per kilowatt hour (kWh) this October. The new rate of P8.4475/kWh is a significant decrease from the P9.4752/kWh rate in September.

For a typical household consuming 200 kWh per month, this reduction translates to a savings of P205.54 in their billing from October 11 to November 10.

The price adjustment follows the conclusion of the staggered payment arrangement for the May 2024 Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) billing, which was evenly spread across June to September. This payment schedule was mandated by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) under Case No. 2024-017 MC.

However, Davao Light cautions customers that despite the lower rates, high electricity bills may still occur if energy consumption is not carefully managed.

“As Filipinos, we tend to celebrate Christmas early, decorating our homes with electric lights as soon as the ‘ber’ months arrive. We remind our customers to practice energy-saving measures to avoid high electricity bills in the coming months,” said Fermin Edillon, Head of Davao Light’s Reputation Enhancement Department.

Customers are encouraged to visit Davao Light’s official Facebook page for energy conservation tips and view the complete October 2024 rates on their website at www.davaolight.com.

Davao Light, a subsidiary of AboitizPower, is the third largest privately-owned electric distribution utility in the Philippines, serving a population of approximately 2.23 million across Davao City, Panabo City, and the municipalities of Carmen, Dujali, and Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte. The utility’s franchise area covers 3,561 square kilometers.
