Statement of Zamboanga del Sur PNP Provincial Director on Tukuran Explosion

Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur – In relation to the recent explosion incident at a beach resort in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, reported at 2:01 AM on September 17, 2024, Police Colonel Restituto Pangusban, Provincial Director of the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO), has confirmed the deaths of two male individuals. The involvement of these individuals in the incident is still under investigation.

Colonel Pangusban assured the public that the investigation into this incident is the top priority. All evidence collected from the crime scene is currently undergoing a comprehensive forensic examination to uncover crucial details about the explosion. The ZSPPO is diligently working to determine the type of explosive used, the motive behind the explosion, and the identity of any suspects involved. This meticulous process involves collaboration with various specialized units, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and forensic experts, to ensure a thorough and accurate investigation.

Police Colonel Romeo Espero Jr., Deputy Regional Director for Operation, is personally supervising the Special Investigation Team to ensure a comprehensive and effective response. Colonel Pangusban emphasized that this situation is being treated with the utmost seriousness, and there is no immediate cause for alarm within the community.
