Madrid, Surigao del Sur — September 13, 2024 — In a coordinated effort to combat illegal drug activities, undercover operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office XIII, working alongside the Madrid Municipal Police Station, successfully dismantled a drug den in Barangay Linibunan, Madrid, Surigao del Sur, on the evening of September 13, 2024.
The operation led to the arrest of three individuals identified as:
- Bernil Rosil y Bucao, alias Verjil
- Richard Doy y Daging, alias Joy
- Charlie Esdicol y Nambatac, alias Charlie
During the buy-bust operation, law enforcement agents seized a variety of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. Among the evidence collected were:
- One heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu, valued at approximately PHP 1,000, used in the buy-bust transaction.
- Several small sachets of shabu found in the suspects’ possession, with a total street value estimated at PHP 35,000.
- Additional evidence including the buy-bust money, a Sunelan keypad-type cellular phone used for illegal transactions, and various drug paraphernalia.
The arrested individuals now face charges under Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These sections cover offenses related to the illegal possession, sale, and distribution of dangerous drugs.
The successful dismantling of this drug den highlights the ongoing efforts of PDEA and local police to address drug-related issues in the region. Both agencies remain committed to their mission of creating safer communities by targeting and disrupting illegal drug operations.
