CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur — Authorities arrested two suspected drug personalities and confiscated approximately ₱150,000 worth of illegal drugs in a joint anti-drug operation conducted late evening on April 18, 2026, in Purok 5, Barangay Linintian.

The buy-bust operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XIII (PDEA RO 13), its Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Division, and the Philippine National Police through the Cantilan Municipal Police Station.

Authorities said the operation led to the successful apprehension of two individuals after they allegedly sold methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, to an undercover operative. Seized during the operation were sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱150,000, marked buy-bust money, and a mobile phone believed to be used in illegal drug transactions.

The suspects are now in police custody and are set to face charges for violations of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) under Article II of Republic Act No. 9165.

Laurefel P. Gabales, Regional Director of PDEA RO 13, lauded the operating units for their coordinated execution of the operation and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to intensifying the campaign against illegal drugs.

“This successful operation reflects the strength of our collaboration with partner law enforcement agencies. Through unity and shared responsibility, we continue to make significant strides in our fight against illegal drugs,” Gabales said, commending the team’s professionalism and dedication.

He also called on the public to play a more active role in the anti-drug campaign by remaining vigilant, reporting suspicious activities, and cooperating with authorities.

“This fight is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement. We encourage the community to take part in safeguarding their neighborhoods. With sustained public support, we can achieve safer and drug-free communities,” he added.

PDEA RO 13 assured residents that it will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies to strengthen operations against illegal drugs and maintain peace and order across the Caraga Region.
