Carpenter Arrested for Violation of RA 9165 in Lanao del Sur

Piagapo, Lanao del Sur – On September 9, 2024, a carpenter known by the alias “Ian” was apprehended for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, during an intensified anti-criminality checkpoint operation in Barangay Rantian, Piagapo.

PCOL Robert S. Daculan, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LDSPPO), commended the personnel of Piagapo Municipal Police Station (MPS) for their successful operation. Alias Ian, a resident of Pensioner Village, Maria Cristina, Iligan City, was driving a black Honda Click 125 motorcycle with a temporary plate number 302JXK when he was flagged down at the checkpoint. Instead of stopping, he accelerated and hit the toe of one of the police officers, prompting the outer security to intercept him.

Upon his apprehension, a body search revealed a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, weighing approximately 1.0 gram with a street value of Php 6,800.00. The arresting officers immediately called representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Barangay Officials, and a media representative to conduct an inventory of the seized items.

Alias Ian and the recovered evidence were brought to Piagapo MPS for proper disposition. He is currently facing charges for violating RA 9165 and direct assault of a person in authority.

PCOL Daculan praised the diligence and coordination of the Piagapo MPS personnel, emphasizing the importance of such operations in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs in the region.
