MALABANG, Lanao del Sur — A married man was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen while seated inside his parked multicab in Barangay Jose Abad Santos, Malabang, Lanao del Sur, at around 4 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, police reported.
The victim was identified as Ali “Sorondayong” Cadayon, an adult resident of Barangay Mable in the same municipality. He was found dead inside his red multicab bearing plate number ACT 4146, with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.
According to the initial investigation of the Malabang Municipal Police Station (MPS), Cadayon had parked his vehicle while buying soft drinks. He was reportedly already seated inside the multicab when two unidentified men approached him and opened fire.
The suspects immediately fled after the shooting aboard a black Honda Click motorcycle, leaving the victim inside his vehicle.
Personnel of the Malabang MPS, together with members of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, responded to the scene to verify the report and investigate the incident.
Responding authorities found Cadayon lifeless inside his multicab. Witnesses reportedly told investigators that one of the suspects was wearing a black T-shirt, a detail that police may use in identifying and tracking down the perpetrators.
Investigators also recovered one spent cartridge casing at the crime scene, which was believed to have come from a caliber .45 firearm. The recovered evidence is expected to form part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have launched hot pursuit operations and intensified intelligence gathering to identify and arrest the two suspects. Investigators are also working to establish the motive behind the killing.
As of the latest available information, the identities of the gunmen and the motive for the attack remain undetermined. Authorities have yet to announce any arrests in connection with the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing as police pursue leads that could help establish the circumstances surrounding Cadayon’s killing and bring those responsible to justice.
