Mati City, Davao Oriental — In a bid to boost police visibility and response capabilities in hard-to-reach areas, the Police Regional Office 11 conducted a horseback riding patrol training on April 2, 2025, at the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office in Barangay Dahican, Mati City.

The activity was spearheaded by Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Z. Rosete, Regional Director of PRO 11, and forms part of the Philippine National Police’s broader efforts to improve public safety and community relations.

The training aims to enhance the capacity of police officers to patrol not only in parks, tourist destinations, and rural communities, but especially in remote areas inaccessible by regular vehicles. Mounted on horses, police personnel are expected to respond more swiftly to incidents in mountainous or rugged terrains where mobility is often a challenge.

Beyond operational advantages, the initiative also seeks to strengthen the bond between the police and local residents. By increasing their presence and approachability, officers can build trust, improve communication, and reinforce peace and order in the community.

“This effort is part of the PNP’s commitment to bring police services closer to the people and ensure the safety of every community, no matter how distant,” said Brig. Gen. Rosete.

The horseback patrol training is seen as a sustainable approach in bridging mobility gaps while fostering stronger police-community partnerships in the countryside.
