Over 5,655 aspiring scholars took part in the simultaneous competitive examination organized by the provincial government of Cotabato under the leadership of Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza on April 2, 2025. The examination, facilitated by the Provincial Youth Development Division (PYDD), marks a significant step for students hoping to secure financial assistance for their education.
Even in the early hours of the morning, examinees lined up at their designated testing venues, filled with anticipation and hope. The venues included Midsayap for the 1st district, the Provincial Gymnasium in Amas, Kidapawan City for the 2nd district, and Kabacan for the 3rd district. These locations were carefully selected to accommodate the large number of participants from different parts of the province.
The Provincial Scholarship Program is one of the flagship initiatives of the Cotabato provincial government, aimed at providing financial aid to deserving students. Successful applicants will receive P6,000 per semester, totaling P12,000 annually, to support their educational expenses. This assistance is expected to ease the financial burden on students and their families, allowing them to focus on their academic pursuits.
Present during the examination were members of the Provincial Advisory Council, including Dr. Gloria Mudanza, Sylvia Cabading, Vilma Gonzales, Alma Tuyan, and Tessie Victoriano, alongside PYDD Head Laarni Y. Blase. Their presence underscored the province’s commitment to investing in education and empowering the youth through scholarship opportunities.
The provincial government continues to prioritize education, recognizing its role in shaping the future of Cotabato. Through programs like this, the province reaffirms its dedication to providing opportunities for students to achieve their academic dreams and contribute to their communities.
