Zamboanga City, February 8, 2025 – The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), under the leadership of Acting City Director PCOL Kimberly E. Molitas, successfully launched its first Youth Forum of the year, setting a powerful precedent for youth empowerment and community engagement. The event, held at Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Tetuan, Zamboanga City, embraced the theme #IAmMyFuture: “Una Jovenes, Una Zamboanga,” calling on young people to take charge of their future and contribute to building a stronger community.

Student leaders from various schools, alongside members of the LGBTQIA+ community, actively participated in the forum, fostering an inclusive space for dialogue and learning. The event provided a platform for youth to engage with critical societal issues and develop leadership skills essential for their growth and contribution to society.

The forum featured a series of insightful lectures from expert resource speakers. PCPT Monna W. Sawann, a psychometrician from RMDU 9, and PLT Jeffrey M. Marqueses, also from RMDU 9, addressed the crucial topic of Mental Health Awareness, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being and equipping youth with coping strategies.

The discussion on Rights of Women and Children, led by PEMS Mal-Meradz B. Lagbas, Chief Clerk of WCPC MFU, shed light on legal protections and advocacy for marginalized groups, reinforcing the principles of respect and equality.

PAT Aeron Joy G. Arquiza from RACU 9 provided an in-depth analysis of The Importance and Disadvantages of Social Media, highlighting the impact of digital platforms on personal and societal well-being while advocating for responsible online engagement.

Another key session focused on Entrepreneurship, led by Ms. MJ Gaan, Founder of Fratena Group and a seasoned entrepreneur. She inspired young individuals to harness their creativity and take initiative in starting their own businesses, contributing to economic growth and innovation.

One of the forum’s most impactful moments came from a Leadership Talk by PCOL Kimberly E. Molitas, who urged the youth to embrace leadership roles with integrity and responsibility. Her powerful message encouraged participants to take active roles in shaping their communities and futures with vision and purpose.

The event concluded with an Open Forum, allowing participants to share their thoughts, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions. This interactive session fostered a deeper connection among attendees, encouraging ongoing conversations about the themes covered.

Through initiatives like this, the Zamboanga City Police Office continues to play a crucial role in empowering young leaders and promoting community development. By addressing key societal issues such as mental health, social media responsibility, women’s and children’s rights, and entrepreneurship, the Youth Forum has left a lasting impact on its participants, paving the way for a more informed, resilient, and proactive generation.

The success of this event marks an important milestone in strengthening youth leadership in Zamboanga City, reaffirming the commitment of both the police force and the community to nurture the leaders of tomorrow.
